An earthy wine-colored mineral pigment derived from natural iron oxide deposits in the Mixtec sierra of Puebla.

 Also known historically as Caput Mortuum or Cardinal Purple, this natural iron oxide shade was highly coveted for cultural reasons and was used to paint the robes of important figures in the ecclesiastical hierarchy, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries.

 Can be used in combination with any binder
