Watercolor made with earthy wine-colored mineral pigment from natural iron oxide deposits from the Mixteca Sierra of Puebla.

 Also known historically as Caput Mortuum or Cardinal Purple, this natural iron oxide shade was highly coveted for cultural reasons and was used to paint the robes of important figures in the ecclesiastical hierarchy, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries.

 *It is normal for there to be a slight separation between the pigment and the binder, this is because our paints are manufactured without fillers or additives. It does not affect the quality of the paint at all.
